Build the week automatically

The builder places people into every slot the week needs. It respects positions, availability, time off, rest, weekly limits and your active rules, and it spreads hours and weekends fairly.

Steps

1. Open the Week tab and check the week at the top.
2. Press Build week on the web, or Build the week on the phone. If a draft already exists, the phone button is Rebuild.
3. Watch the week fill. When it ends you see the summary: percent covered, open slots, rule breaks and quota gaps.
4. Tap a person to see why they were chosen. See Why was this person chosen.
5. Fix anything open or unwanted. See Fix open slots and Edit the week by hand.
6. When you are happy, publish. See Publish the week.

Good to know

• Automatic building is a paid feature, included in the 14-day trial. On Free you can still schedule by hand and publish.
• The builder needs a team, shifts and people-per-shift numbers. Without staffing numbers the board says No staffing needs set yet.
• Right after setup the build only knows positions and headcounts, so the board says it is a first draft: it spreads shifts fairly, and shows Ask your team for availability until your team has shared availability.
• Shifts you moved or assigned by hand are kept when you rebuild.
• If your team sent weekly availability, the builder only uses the shifts they offered.
• Rules are applied from the switches in the Rules tab. See Scheduling rules.
• On the web, the keyboard key B starts a build.
