Scheduling rules you can switch on or off

See every rule the builder can follow, and turn each one on or off with a switch.

Rules are the things the builder must or should follow. Each one is a card with a switch.

Steps

Open the Rules tab. On the phone, active rules are listed first under Your rules, and the others under More rules you can switch on. On the web all rules are in one list.
Use the switch on a card to turn that rule on or off.
The next time you build the week, only the active rules are used.

Never together: two named people are not put on the same shift.
Always together: two named people are put on the same shift whenever possible.
Max days in a row: nobody works more than a set number of days in a row.
Minimum rest: at least a set number of hours between two shifts.
Max hours per week: a ceiling per person, on top of their own limit.
Fair nights (on the web, Fair evenings): evening and night shifts are shared evenly.
Fair weekends: weekend shifts are shared evenly.
Respect preferences: preferred shifts are chosen first.
Keep last week's pattern: people keep their usual days, with fewer surprises.

Changing a rule does not change the week on screen. Build the week again to apply it.
