Set weekly limits and availability for a person
Set the most hours and shifts a person can work in a week, a minimum, and the shifts they cannot or prefer to work.
- For owners
Limits tell the builder how much each person can work. Availability tells it when they cannot, or prefer to.
Steps
- Open the Team tab and tap the person.
- Under limits, set Max hours per week, Max shifts per week and Min hours per week with the steppers. Changes save right away.
- Under Availability (on the phone, Usual availability), see when the person cannot work or prefers to. On the web, tap a cell to mark a shift on a weekday as not available, and tap again to clear it.
- On the phone, the grid shows an X for a shift the person cannot work and a star for a preferred shift. The person sets these themselves in the Hours tab.
Good to know
- Max hours go up to 60 and max shifts per week up to 7.
- The builder never goes over a person's maximum. A part-timer with 20 hours will not be given 30.
- Min hours is a target, not a promise. The builder tries to reach it when it can.
- Employees can also set their own availability in the Hours tab, and ask for time off. See Request time off.
- When your team sends weekly availability, the builder uses the shifts they offered. See Weekly submissions.
- Your country's rest and weekly hour defaults apply to everyone on top of these limits. See Rest and weekly hour defaults.
