Write a rule in plain language
Type a rule the way you would say it, check the card the app shows, and confirm it so it counts.
- For owners
Type the rule as you would say it, for example "Luca and Marco never on the same shift". The app turns it into a rule card, and nothing counts until you confirm.
Steps
- Open the Rules tab.
- In the box Write a rule in your own words (on the phone, Write a rule), type your rule. Examples: "No more than 5 days in a row" or "Share weekends fairly".
- Tap Understand the rule (on the web, Understand).
- Read the card. It shows the rule type and a sentence such as "Luca R. and Marco B. are never together".
- If it is right, tap Add this rule (on the web, Confirm rule). If not, tap Cancel (on the web, Discard) and try again.
- The new rule is on. You can switch it off any time.
Good to know
- This is a paid feature, included in the 14-day trial. After the trial the button shows a lock and opens the plans.
- The text needs at least 6 characters.
- Use people's names as they appear in your team, or a number of hours or days.
- Rule changes apply from your next build.
If it does not work
- If the app says the rule is not clear yet, name the people or give a number, for example "Luca and Marco never together" or "At most 5 days in a row".
- Rules only cover the types in Scheduling rules. Something outside that list cannot become a rule.
