Add a night shift that ends the next day
Create a shift that runs past midnight, and know how rest between shifts is handled.
- For owners
A night shift is a normal shift whose end time is earlier than its start time, such as 22:00 to 06:00.
Steps
- In setup, open the Your days and shifts step (on the web, Days and shifts) and tap Add a shift.
- Name it, for example Night.
- Set Starts (on the phone, Start) to the evening time, for example 22:00.
- Set Ends (on the phone, End) to the morning time, for example 06:00.
- On the web the shift now shows Ends the next day, and a moon icon appears on the week board. On the phone you see the length of the shift (for example 8 hours) under the times.
- Tap Continue.
Good to know
- Hours are counted across midnight, so a 22:00 to 06:00 shift is 8 hours (less any break).
- The shift belongs to the day it starts on. A Friday night shift ends on Saturday morning.
- The minimum rest between shifts applies after the real end time. A night shift ending at 06:00 followed by an evening shift the same day can be blocked by the rest rule. See Rest and weekly hour defaults.
- A night shift is counted in the "night" category used by weekly submission quotas. A shift that starts on Saturday or Sunday also counts as weekend, but a Friday night shift does not.
- To use midnight as the end time, choose 00:00 or 24:00. The app treats it as the end of that day.
